About Us

The Carers Centre for Brighton & Hove is a local charity which exists to support anyone caring for a partner, relative or friend who needs help because of any illness or disability. The Carers Centre was established in 1988 as a drop in centre in Hove. Since then we have expanded to cover Brighton & Hove.

We are run by a Management Committee of local volunteers and are independent from the local Council and NHS services.

We are members of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers a national network of carers centres across the country. This allows us to network with other organisations and share good practice. They also provide us with up to date information about national policy.

Funding Our Work

Making sure we have enough funds to carry out our work is an ongoing challenge. In 2006/07 we received income as follows,

  • 62% from Local Authority and Primary Care Trust
  • 30% from charitable trusts
  • 8% from individuals
