Carer Expert Project

Our Carer Expert Project is an opportunity for all carers to be involved in consultation at both a national and local level.

If you are interested in talking about your experiences of being a carer and helping to raise awareness of the issues facing carers then why not think about joining the project?

In return you will receive one to one support, guidance and training. We will also reimburse you for your time and for any travel expenses you incur.

As a Carer Expert you can decide:

  • How much time you can commit
  • Exactly what type of consultation you want to be involved in
  • What topics are of interest to you.

So for instance- do you have a particular interest in dementia or do you have something to say about hospital discharge planning?
Would simply filling in a survey or attending a focus group be of interest to you?
Or would you like to commit to a longer term piece of work such as attending any of the carer’s forums that are held on a regular basis by the city council or NHS?
Similarly you may be interested in representing a particular group of carers (such as carers in your locality or carers looking after someone with a mental health diagnosis).

Whatever your preferences I would love to hear from you, as I know how important it is that carers have a voice and are given the chance to share their knowledge and expertise!

Please contact me on 01273 746222 or email me at Jane.burt@thecarerscentre.org if you would like to have a chat about the Carer Expert Project.
