Groups & Activities
The Carers Centre offers a range of groups and activities for young carers throughout the year. Some are fun breaks and new experiences, whilst others are more focused on supporting young carers around specific needs and issues. Often just having the chance to spend time with other young carers can really help!
We have recently run girls and boys groups focused around learning new skills, as well as issues based groups looking at caring for someone with mental health problems. Trips and activities provide respite from the caring role and have included visits to the Sealife Centre, Chessington World of Adventures and a spooky Halloween make up workshop. There are lots more great groups and activities planned for the coming year.
Last year the teens attended and took part in a wide range of groups and activities. These included an outward bound day at Brook Farm, a residential to the Young Carers Festival , a trip to London; sightseeing, a boys group around identity and belonging and a Christmas ice skating trip. In the next month the teens will be invited to attend a group on social media and staying safe and work on individual art pieces in a graffiti style workshop.
