A-Z Directory of Services and Sources of Information

Our A-Z Directory contains a  list of links to partner organisations and other organisations that may be able to help you more directly. If you are unable to find the information you require through these links or are unsure where your enquiry fits then, please contact us.

Carers’ Library

At our offices, we have gathered a lot of information relevant to carers in Brighton & Hove. It is stored alphabetically, from Alternative Therapies through to Young Carers and is kept up-to-date by one of our dedicated volunteers. We use this to help us respond to telephone enquiries, though carers are also welcome to come into the Centre to browse. Some of this information can also help signpost people to other organisations.

Within our Carers’ Library we also have a series of factsheets, which many carers have found particularly useful. These can be requested from our offices or downloaded for your convenience. The factsheets cover the following topics:

  • Bereavement
  • A-Z Guide to services and home help
  • Respite Care Services
  • Benefits for carers and those they care for
  • Transport
  • Community Care
  • Holidays
  • Returning to Employment
  • Stroke Services

To download any of these, please click this link.

We have a number of reports available relating to the work carried out by The Carers Centre and the local strategies affecting carers in the city. To view these reports, please click here.

Social opportunities

The Carers Centre runs a whole series of groups and activities for carers to meet each other, gain peer support and learn from the experiences of others. Many of these are also facilitated by one of our Support and Outreach Workers who can provide information to the groups. For an overview of what we and other organisations in the city offer for carers see our Activities Sheet. Details on dates, times and location of our groups are also listed in our What’s On Calendar.
It’s also worth taking a look at the Groups page for groups organised by The Carers Centre and other local organisations.

There are also opportunities to discuss issues on-line with other carers via our Facebook page. We have details on other carer social networking sites in our A-Z Directory under ‘On-line Social Networking’

We also make regular postings on The Argus Community Pages to keep you up-to-date with what is happening in your area for carers.
