Carers’ Self-Assessment

In addition, you can now also complete your own Carers’ Self-Assessment online at the website of Brighton and Hove City Council.

In England your local council needs to provide a carer’s assessment to any adult who asks for one, or offer one to anyone who looks like they need support. Find out more about carers’ rights and the Care Act on the NHS Choices website.

This new pilot service aims to improve carers’ satisfaction with assessment services, modernise assessment approaches, create easier and accessible ways for carers to be assessed for their support needs and support more people who identify as carers. The new online self-assessment tool will empower people to have control and choice over their care arrangements by:

  • Self-assessing their needs, 24/7 at their convenience
  • Indicating if they may be eligible for social care support
  • Signpost carers to more information and advice on care and support in the city
