A huge thank you to all the carers and professionals that joined us for a successful Carers Festival event at Brighton’s Open Market on Wednesday 12th June 2024. We were delighted to welcome so many of you throughout the day and it was encouraging to see all the networking and celebrating that went on.
Much appreciation to the Carers Centre staff that led on the planning and delivery of the event. Hopefully, some of you will have also seen our Health Link Workers at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and at Warmdene Surgery during what has been a busy Carers Week in the city.
We took on board carer feedback from previous years that the best balance is one large celebratory event, supplemented by smaller, pop-up events raising awareness of the incredibly important role that carers take on each day.
Speaking of carer feedback, we were also pleased to be joined at the Open Market by Gemma Scambler, Brighton & Hove City Council/NHS Sussex Carers Commissioner. Following on from Carers Rights Day last November, Gemma was sharing with carers the ways in which their feedback has impacted the development of an updated, city-wide Carer-Friendly City Strategy. You can read the summary here.
Once again, thanks for all your support and watch this space for news of our next Carers Rights Day event in November.
